This paper proposes a positive theory of <a title=\"Learn more about Distributive Justice from ScienceDirect's AI-generated Topic Pages\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/economics-econometrics-and-finance\/distributive-justice\">distributive justice<\/a><span>, in a framework of inequity aversion, that depends on three general <a title=\"Learn more about Justice from ScienceDirect's AI-generated Topic Pages\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/economics-econometrics-and-finance\/justice\">justice<\/a> principles and context. The current study challenges the view of many previous inquiries that justice is <\/span><\/span><em>context-specific<\/em> and instead advances a theory in which justice is <em>context-dependent<\/em>: context matters, not because of the lack of general principles of justice, but due to its effect on the interpretation of those principles.
